The motivation behind Living Legacy is to help our children who start out life with a difficult diagnosis and
are facing challenges. It is difficult to explain all the different events, emotions, decisions and even heightened senses that begin to remold your life, and the lives of those around you. This affects the entire family in many ways, and on many levels. Our life once known as "normal", now has new parameters, goals, milestones and even a new language that has to be learned in order to communicate with doctors and therapists. Add to this the countless forms that need
to be filled out, questions that have to be answered, appointments that must be kept, and it is easy to see how the entire family is affected. Life has a new definition of "normal".
We want to help relieve some trials and stumbling blocks of these families so that they can focus more on their children and help them reach their highest potential in life. As the family is engaged in rallying around and making the necessary adjustments to facilitate the "new normal", life still goes on.
The father of a little girl named Allison, who has been on a ventilator for the last three weeks, wrote this to me: "I believe that these children are the "icons" (images) of Christ who suffer innocently to teach us the way of Christ."
